Beth Deisher Elected to ACEF Board of Directors
Beth Deisher has been elected to serve on the board of the Anti-Counterfeiting Educational Foundation (ACEF), effective Sept. 15. She succeeds Mary Sauvain, who moved from the board to become ACEF executive director on Aug. 1. Sauvain was elected to the board in January 2024.

The ACEF Board of Directors welcomed Deisher to her new role. She stepped down as executive director on Aug. 1 to devote more time to other interests.

“Her past experience operating within ACEF will be a tremendous asset to our organization and the numismatic community as a whole,” said Barry Stuppler of ACEF.

Deisher was editor of Coin World for 27 years, retiring in 2012. During her tenure, she frequently testified before congressional committees on numismatic issues. She also served on three Ohio commissions that recommended designs for the state’s quarter, its bicentennial medal, and a set of medals celebrating the United States’ 250th anniversary.

She has written or edited more than 12 books on numismatic topics and received more than 200 awards from the Numismatic Literary Guild, including its Clemy Award. Deisher was elected to the Numismatic Hall of Fame in 2013. Most recently, the American Numismatic Association recognized her with its Elvira Clain-Stefanelli Award for Achievement in Numismatics.

A longtime advocate for numismatic education and efforts to combat coin counterfeiting, Deisher coordinated numismatic specialists and helped develop training for federal law enforcement agencies. The training focused on identifying counterfeit coins and intercepting counterfeit coins being imported into the United States.

Deisher was initially recruited to organize the Anti-Counterfeiting Task Force for the Industry Council for Tangible Assets, now known as the National Coin and Bullion Association. She became ACEF executive director in April 2024.

Her affiliations include Fellow of the American Numismatic Society and membership in the American Numismatic Association, the Numismatic Literary Guild, the National Federation of Press Women, and the Society of Professional Journalists. She was also a member of Women in Numismatics until the organization dissolved.
