Three homicides, increased proliferation of counterfeits, thefts, and fraudulent checks proved costly to dealers and collectors in 2015.
Numismatic crime continues to plague the numismatic community and often proves to be emotionally and financially devastating to victims.
However, in 2015 the Numismatic Crime Information Center (NCIC) was successful in assisting law enforcement and victims in several cases which resulted in arrests and recovery of stolen property. The success in these cases was due to the support of the numismatic community which allows NCIC to continue providing free resources to law enforcement and victims during the investigation of a numismatic crime.
NCIC conducted free training to over 100 local, state and federal law enforcement officers and provided a $5,000 reward in the robbery and murder of a Cheyenne, Wyoming coin dealer. These efforts were made possible by your support.
The strategic initiatives of NCIC in 2016 will be focused on continuing education of law enforcement and increasing the awareness of dealers and collectors to the many resources provided by NCIC. In addition they will be developing a task force to address the response of law enforcement in the area of counterfeit coins.
As the year comes to an end, NCIC hopes you will consider sending a generous donation to enable them to continue and enhance their efforts in targeting numismatic crimes around the world.
