The National Coin & Bullion Association (NCBA) congratulates Paul Hollis on his nomination today by President Donald J. Trump to serve as the next director of the United States Mint, as announced on the White House’s news website. This nomination recognizes Hollis’s expertise and decades-long leadership in numismatics, precious metals, and public service.

“This is an incredible honor and a well-deserved recognition of Paul’s tireless work for the numismatic community,” said NCBA executive director David Crenshaw. “Paul Hollis has been a dedicated advocate of sound fiscal policy on behalf of collectors and investors throughout his career. We are thrilled to see him nominated for this important national role.”

A Louisiana native and lifelong coin collector nationally recognized as an expert in coins and precious metals, Hollis is the founder of Paul Hollis Rare Coins in Mandeville, Louisiana. He is the award-winning author of American Numismatist, named “U.S. Coin Book of the Year,” and has published numerous articles in leading journals and industry publications.

Hollis joined NCBA (formerly the Industry Council for Tangible Assets or ICTA) in 2008 and served on its board of directors. In 2009, Hollis chaired then-ICTA’s Mint Director Candidate Review Committee, advocating for qualified industry leaders to guide the US Mint. He has played a key role in advancing NCBA’s mission to protect and strengthen the coin and precious-metals bullion industries at both the federal and state levels.

From 2012 to 2024, Hollis served in the Louisiana House of Representatives, where he earned distinction for his work on the Education, Commerce, Insurance, and Retirement Committees. Among his notable achievements was championing legislation to restore and expand Louisiana’s sales-tax exemption for coins and precious metals—a measure widely supported by NCBA and the broader numismatic community. In 2023, he was honored as “Legislator of the Year” by the Louisiana State Police.

His nomination today is a culmination of his years of service and leadership and stands as a proud moment for NCBA, the state of Louisiana, and the entire coin and bullion industry.
